In the dark swamps of Falgor, deep in southern Rotvar, dwell the fearsome Lizardmen of the mire: cold-blooded, bipedal saurians, born of mud, mist, and hunger.
More savage than their Goldmaw cousins, and leaner than the Frostheart kin of the north, these iguana-faced predators move in packs, launching ambushes from stagnant waters and shadows, armed with sharpened javelins and crude bone falchions.
They obey no kings, only the law of strength and the gnawing call of hunger, which often draws them into savage warbands alongside Gnolls, Hobgoblins, and Ogre.
Lizardmen of Falgor
The Lizardmen of Falgor are cold-blooded predators, shaped by the primordial swamps they call home.
Their males grow long, curved spines dyed in violet shades along their backs, while females bear prominent dorsal crests used for both display and ritual combat.
Their skin is thick and covered in scales, with little spikes coming out of their heads.
Their presence once pushed the native Turtlekin to the brink of extinction, and the few who survived vanished into the Forest of Arba.
Unlike the more civilized Goldmaw Lizardmen, the Falgor breed has no written word, and no hierarchy beyond strength. They speak a language that is impossible to understand for most antrompomorphic creature of Mundus.
They do, however, worship Rotmulag, the ancient Lord of the Hunt; his presence lingers in their rites and in the sacrifices they perform deep within the swamp. Though he has been long vanquished, rumors whisper that his corrupted Avatar has been spotted walking the Arba Forests.
The Falgor Lizardmen strike with sudden violence and eat their victims, using crude weapons made of their bones.
Zarrkan Bloodjaw
Zarrkan is the embodiment of brutal ascension. A former pack leader who rose to dominance after slaughtering a rival tribe, he wields two massive bone axes etched with fang-shaped carvings.
Legends tell of a long and bitter feud between Zarrkan’s warriors and the Blackrazor Hobgoblins, a conflict marked by ambushes, betrayals, and cannibalistic retaliation. It is said that a fragile truce was only reached when the two factions were forced to unite against the encroaching Goldmaw from the south.
Zarrkan now leads his kin with ruthless violence: where his shadow falls, the hunt begins.
Drulsk the Mire-Speaker
Drulsk, also known as the white lizard, is the eldest among the Mire-Speakers, a caste of swamp-bound shamans who claim to hear the memories of the land itself. His head is crowned with bone fetishes and feathers.
He does not lead, nor command. Yet when Drulsk hisses beneath the moon, even the warlords pause. It is said he communed with Rotmulag himself, and in doing so, stole the last secrets of the mysterious fallen Lord of the Hunt. He now guards the ziggurat ruins and presides over rites forgotten by the warm-blooded creatures.
Great Basilisk of Falgor
Deep beneath the stagnant waters slumbers the Great Basilisk of Falgor, a monstrous relic from a forgotten age. Its massive monumental body is supported by eight powerful legs with sharp claws. Considered as a living god from the creatures of Falgor, its gaze turns the living into stone.
The northern edge of its domain is littered with what appear to be ancient statues. But look closer and you’ll see twisted forms of Hobgoblins, Ogre, Gnoll, Turtlekin and wayward adventurers, all frozen in agony. The Lizardmen of Falgor, who have always shared their swamp with the beast, have learned not to look into its cursed eyes, and have managed to transform it into a powerful ally against the hated Goldmaw.
Pterowyvern Riders
Falgor's deadly pterowyverns are ancestors of the common wyverns of the dragonpeaks, which for unknown reasons still linger in the dark swamps. Above the treetops of the swamp, the skies belong to the Pterowyvern Riders. Borne on the backs of these sleek, leathery-winged beasts, Falgor Lizardmen rain death from above using javelins tipped with bone or sacks of corrosive sap.
Lizardman Ziggurat
Once a place of ancient rites to Rotmulag, the Lord of Hunt, it now serves as a gathering ground during eclipses, where the Lizardmen leave offerings of bone, blood, and shell. n the dark of night, one might still hear the guttural chants echoing from those ruins.
